Gabby gets gold! Douglas wins all-around gymnastics final
The Internet buzz about Gabrielle Douglas when the U.S. women's gymnasts stormed to the team gold concerned her hair. Now maybe it'll be about her ability. The 16-year-old American is the newest darling of the sport with a dominant performance Thursday during the individual all-around competition. Winning both the vault
and the balance beam, Douglas outlasted Russia's Victoria Komova in the final event, floor exercise – nearly stepping off the mat on a brilliant Arabian double before holding it together. It's the third straight Olympic gold in the all-around for the United States, and it nearly came with a bronze. Aly Raisman equaled the score of Russia's Aliya Mustafina, but lost on a tiebreaker.
