She might not exactly be a household name either here or in the US just yet, but if she makes a new deal, actress Cristin Milioti could see her career and status take a big bump. How so? She’s in negotiations to play Leonardo DiCaprio’s wife in The Wolf Of Wall Street.
While Martin Scorsese has been hiring known names so far for the adaptation of Jordan Belfort’s memoir, with regular muse DiCaprio joined by Jonah Hill, Kyle Chandler and The Artist’s Jean Dujardin, Milioti signals that he's filling the supporting roles with solid performers who aren’t as recognizable.
Terence Winter wrote the script, which will chart Belfort (DiCaprio)’s time as a stockbroker who sees his career skyrocket before crashing when he’s investigated for fraud.
Milioti is up to play his first wife, a hairdresser who is badly betrayed by her husband when he starts playing away. She’s largely starred in shorts and indie movies up to now, and has also appeared on Broadway, scoring a Tony nomination for her performance in the musical based on Once.
Taking the role of Belfont's second wife is Margot Robbie, who is now in negotiations to play Nadine. Robbie has appeared in Neighbours and was last on screens across the pond in TV drama Pan Am.
Scorsese aims to have the cameras whirring later this summer in New York.
