Baltimore Community Turns to Facebook for Clues After School Shooting
On the first day of school at Perry Hall High School in Baltimore County, MA., a 17-year-old student was shot and critically wounded. The suspect, also a student, was immediately apprehended. While the teenager's name has not yet been released by police, the shooter is described by witnesses as a Caucasian 15-year-old male, with long, dark hair. An African American male without a shirt was escorted to a police cruiser in handcuffs, but it is unclear if he is the assailant or in any way involved with the incident.
The witness's description, however, does match up with images from a Facebook page that some believe belongs to the shooter. According to a CBS affiliate in Baltimore, parents were approaching police with images from the page (which appears to be that of Perry Hall High School student).
According to reports, they were pointing out a post on the page from early this morning that read, "First day of school, last day of my life."
The teen's Facebook page is still active. It lists his current occupation as "murder suicide at The Manson Family," and lists Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, the two students responsible for the Columbine High School massacre, as his "Inspirational people."
In a recent press conference, Baltimore County Police Jim Johnson refused to comment on the Facebook page, saying that he thought "it would be inappropriate at this time... we are looking at all aspects of this case."
Though the police have yet to confirm the assailant's identity, the Perry Hall student's Facebook post has been shared more than 600 times. A Twitter search for his name also uncovers a large amount of tweets labeling him as the shooter.
We'll update this post with more details when they become available.
