Chad "Ochocinco" Johnson and Evelyn Lozada's 41-day union is officially over.
"Evelyn and Mr. Johnson were divorced this morning in an uncontested final hearing," Lozada's attorney, Michael B. Gilden told Us Weekly in a statement Wednesday. "My client is a single woman and looks forward to her future."
The Basketball Wives star recently opened up to Iyanla Vanzant on Oprah Winfrey's OWN network about her decision to call it quits with Johnson, who grew violent with her during an argument in mid-August. (The NFL player and Dancing With the Stars alum was arrested August 11 on a domestic violence charge; he allegedly head-butted Lozada after she confronted him about a condom receipt she had found in his car.)
On the night it happened, "I was a little in shock that it went that far," she explained. "All I kept telling him was, 'Your daughter's in the house. I don't want her to know we're fighting.' There was blood all over my face [and] I said to myself, 'This is something that I will not deal with.'"
Seeing her reflection in the mirror later that evening was the final push she needed to break free.
Pointing to her forehead, she told Vanzant, "This was the deal breaker. For me, it was [that] I had visible wounds."
Immediately following Johnson's domestic violence arrest in August, VH1 announced it was canceling the couple's reality show, Ev & Ocho. The Miami Dolphins have also dropped the player from their roster.
