Worlds are colliding once again on The Office. With the addition of Clark Duke to the cast, Dunder
Mifflin will be a very mini Hot Tub Time Machine reunion, as Duke joins fellow hot tub time traveler Craig Robinson in the NBC comedy series. And now it seems The Colbert Report's Stephen Colbert will be reuniting with former Daily Show correspondent Ed Helms in the series later this season.
We've heard all about Andy's Cornell a cappella singing group Here Comes
Treble, and he's definitely mentioned a guy named Broccoli Rob at least
a couple of times when referencing the group (other nicknames mentioned
include Spare Rib, Lunch Box and Pubie Lewis). According to EW,
Colbert's set to play Broccoli Rob! Finally, a face to go with the
ridiculous name! "In the Halloween-themed episode, Andy (Ed Helms)
discovers that the smarmy, competitive Broccoli Rob is singing a
different tune about the history of the group and stirring up drama,
which only intensifies the rivalry between these two frenemies."
Knowing how seriously Andy takes his a cappella singing, something tells
me Colbert's appearance will bring a lot of tension. And Andy's
funniest when he's tense. So this is definitely good news. The episode
will air October 25.
Colbert's appearance isn't the first Daily Show reunion on the
show. Helm's arrival in Season 3 reunited him with Steve Carell, who
also appeared on the Comedy Central news show before he took on the
starring role of The Office.
Here's an old clip from The Daily Show featuring Helms and Colbert. Fittingly, Helms is filling in for Steve Carell.
