Tyson Beckford  + Jamaican and Chinese-American- Tyson Beckford has come a long way from New York’s Bronx to become a cover boy and the face of Ralph Lauren. In doing so he has paved the way for up-and-coming models of colour.  Tyson Beckford was born on December 19, 1970 in The Bronx, New York, United States. He is model and an actor.
Tyson Beckford was born in New York and was also raised in Jamaica. He got his striking looks from her Jamaican father and Chinese/American mother. He studied at Pittsford Mendon High School and was also a member of football and track teams.
His career started in 1992 when he was recruited in the hip hop magazine The Source by Jeff Jones. In 1993 he started his first photo shoot for a well known photographer like Herb Ritts and Bruce Weber and on the same year he became more popular when he was part of Ralph Lauren as a model of male sports wear. As a model he was recognized as “Man of the Year” in 1995 by VH1, a cable television music channel and was also one of the “50 Most Beautiful People in the World by Peoples magazine. In addition, he was ranked #38 on 40 Hottest Hotties of the ’90′s.
He was first seen on screen in Toni Braxton’s video of “Unbreak My Heart”. Apart from music videos, he appeared on television shows like “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Magic Hour, Keenan Ivory Wayans, Mad TV, Entertainment Tonight and VHI. Currently, he is hosting a modeling contest “Make Me a Supermodel”.
Beckford also dreams to pursue his acting career. He took acting classes to make himself competent on that field. He already appeared in the film “Boricuas Bond” and “The Punks”.
