Don't look for Madonna's endorsement of President Barack Obama to turn up in
his campaign ads.
During a concert in Washington, she offered a profane statement of support
that was both politically and
factually incorrect.
"For better or for worse, all right, we have a black Muslim in the White
House, OK," Madonna said during a concert in Washington, D.C.
"That is some amazing s---, it means there is hope in this country," she
added.
Obama has explained, repeatedly, that he is not a Muslim and follows the
Christian faith. But critics who believe there is something inherently wrong
with Muslims have suggested that he is secretly one of them.
Madonna cited Obama's support of gay rights as a reason to vote for the
president.
"You all better vote for f---ing Obama," she said.
Madonna also veered briefly into the historical, noting that Obama
represented the hopes of President Abraham Lincoln and the Union troops who
fought and died in the Civil War, as well as protestors in the Civil Rights
movement. She also touched on Lincoln's assassination.
"What was [Lincoln] fighting for?" Madonna asked the crowd. "To abolish
slavery, right?... and they killed him, as they do all the prophets."
Earlier this month, Madonna created
a stir by sporting a massive, temporary tattoo on her back with
the president's last name during a concert at Yankee stadium.
