Natalie Portman blonde

Natalie Portman has gone from a black swan to a blond one.

The 31-year-old "Black Swan" star debuted a new much lighter 'do on Saturday at the opening night performance of L.A. Dance Project presented by Van Cleef & Arpels. The jewelry house also decked out Portman in some serious bling to match her sparkling Dior Couture gown.

Showing off her new locks, the actress radiantly posed with her husband, choreographer Benjamin Millepied, as well as with Robert Pattinson and burlesque dancer Dita Von Teese.
Portman's hair change, reportedly for a new role, comes as a bit of a shock, considering she has been consistently photographed over the past few weeks with her trademark brown locks as she's been rallying support for President Obama's re-election.
"My mom says I'm like a different person," she told the Hollywood Reporter on Saturday, adding, "I did it just a couple of days ago."

Though this is the first time the Oscar winner has gone this shade of blond, Portman has opted for more dramatic streaks in the past. Back in 2007, while promoting her kids film "Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium," she debuted some very pale highlights. And in 2003, Portman sported a pageboy haircut for her role in the anti-romance "Closer."

But her biggest hair makeover was in 2005 when she was the talk of the Cannes Film Festival after showing up to a screening of "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" with a shaved head. Portman had in fact cut off all her hair for her role in the big-screen adaptation of "V for Vendetta."
