Whitney Houston's estate plans to release an official tribute book honoring the late singing legend
this fall. Whitney: Tribute to an Icon, the only official remembrance of Houston, will feature an essay from Clive Davis and approximately 130 photographs from twenty-two different photographers, including never before seen images. David LaChapelle, Steven Meisel and Patrick Demarchelier are among the photographers represented in the book, which Atria will be publishing.
The performer, who died on February 11, was preparing for Davis' annual pre-Grammy Awards party when she drowned to death in a Beverly Hilton Hotel bathtub. Her family has been grieving her loss, but look forward to sharing the "amazing memories that reflect very special moments in the life of the extraordinary Whitney Houston, 'Nippy' to her family," writes Pat Houston, Whitney's sister-in-law.
Pat and Nicholas Houston are the official heads of Whitney's estate, and also contributed memorials to accompany Davis' essay. Music photographer Randee St. Nicholas made the picture selections for the book and former Jive Records Creative Director Jackie Murphy focused on the design.
"The photographs serve as a visual timeline of Whitney's personal style and fashion as well as highlighting her musical milestones," said Judith Curr, publisher at Atria.
The Grammy Award winner's legacy will live on in the book's pages and be a treat for her fans. Whitney: Tribute to an Icon goes on sale toward the end of November for $39.99.
