A radio caller identified as ‘Donna’ is getting waves of laughter
from listeners of the audio clip during her call to Y94′s ‘The Morning
Playhouse’ in North Dakota. Her
frustration about deer crossing signs brought her to pick up the phone
and voiced out her complains on the deejays of the morning radio show.
Donna said that over the past two years, she has been involved in three car accidents
involving deer,
just after she passed a deer crossing sign. With that
in mind, she thinks that the deer crossing signs encourage deer to cross
the streets and highways. Therefore, she wants those signs to be moved
to avoid accidents.
“My frustration is that Minnesota and North Dakota departments
of transportation would allow these deer crossings to be in such
high-traffic areas. I mean I’ve even seen them on the interstate. Why
are we encouraging deer to cross the interstate? I don’t get it,” Donna
told the radio hosts.
The radio announcer answered Donna with a quiet laughter saying: “Are you kidding?”
Donna continued on her
complaint saying that placing those deer signs on high traffic areas is
an ‘irresponsible’ act. “It seems to me that it’s so irresponsible of us
to allow these deer crossings to be in an area where these deer are so
likely to be struck by oncoming traffic,” she said. “Wouldn’t you
agree?”
The hosts clearly could not react immediately on her question, realizing how stupid that question is.
“The government can direct the deer population anywhere they want to.
All they have to do is move that deer crossing sign,” Donna added.
The host answered back pointing on the misunderstanding of Donna.
“You know deer crossings aren’t telling deer that it’s safe to cross
there. Just more of an alert for drivers so they know it’s a high deer
population,” the host said.
Still, Donna did not get the logic behind the deer crossing signs.
She went on saying: “They can direct their deer population anywhere they
want to by moving that deer crossing sign. Why in the world would they place it on the highway or the interstate, you know? I mean, god.”
To cut the argument, the host was heard saying “right” and promised Donna that they’ll help her spread about her deer issue.
The audio clip of Donna’s radio call entitled “Please Move The Deer
Crossing” was uploaded on Youtube by a certain ‘tutufunny4u’ and
currently has nearly 6 million views.
Due to the millions of views the audio clip generated on Youtube, Y94 radio station called Donna back and asked how she felt and what happened to her after her audio clip became a hit.
Donna admitted how stupid she was for not realizing that the deer signs were for us, humans. She also thanked the hosts
for not laughing too much about her stupidity. “I mean honestly, in my
defense, I had no clue these signs were for us [humans]. I never really
thought about it enough to realize I was kind of being ridiculous,” she
said.
