American Idol runner-up Jessica Sanchez will be joining the cast of hit American show Glee, it has been revealed. The singer missed out on winning the season 11 American Idol
crown, however there are still good things in the pipeline for the
young star as it's been announced the singer will be joining the musical
show for a recurring role although character details are yet to emerge.
Earlier this year 17-year-old Jessica Sanchez lost out to winner Phillip Phillips in American singing competition American Idol.
However, things are looking up for the young star as it's been revealed
by the star herself that she will be joining the famous singing cast in the near future.
Jessica took to Twitter to express her excitement of starting her new role as she said: “@GLEEonFOX @americanidol Very very excited :)!! thank you for the opportunity!”
She then went on to thank producer Ryan Murphy and admitted she can't wait to start working on the show.
“@MrRPMurphy Thank you for everything Ryan! Can't wait to work with you!! :),” she tweeted.
No details have yet emerged of the character role that the singer will be playing, TVLine has announced.
Jessica told ABS-SBN News back in July that although she yet to audition for the show “there are definitely things happening on the side for me.”
It seems Glee stars are already anticipating the arrival of their new cast member.
ABS-SBN News quoted Jane Lynch, who plays Cheerleading coach Sue Sylvester, saying: "I watched American Idol the entire season last year and I was rooting for her the whole time. I think she's an amazing talent so I love that she's coming on the show."
