The news comes less than 24 hours after Jets fans watched the San Francisco 49ers poleaxe the home team, 34-0, on Sunday afternoon at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.
Johnson, who also acts as the chairman of Romney's New York campaign, has raised millions for the Republican while becoming a good friend during the past few months.
"Mitt loves the fact that Woody Johnson gets around town on a Razor scooter, " a mutual pal told the New York Observer in July. "He finds that hysterical. This is a guy that takes a helicopter from Teterboro to 34th Street and gets on his Razor scooter. I mean, the irony!"
Among the other very public donations made by the Jets owner this year: A new contract for quarterback Mark Sanchez that could pay the fourth-year pro as much as $40.5 million over the next three seasons.
The 2-2 Jets are No. 24 in rushing yards and 26th in passing yards, according to ESPN.
