Nick Lachey and his wife, Vanessa Minnillo, welcomed their first child into the world on Wednesday.
"We
are incredibly proud to announce the birth of our beautiful baby boy,
Camden John Lachey," they said in a statement to MTV News. "Born today
[Wednesday] at 6:54 p.m., he came into this world at 8 lbs., 9 oz. and
21 inches. Love has truly been redefined for both of us."
Lachey first broke the baby news back in
March
when he co-hosted "Live! With Kelly." Back then, before he knew the
gender of the baby, Lachey was still struggling to pick out the perfect
name.
"I think we may have to steal 'Sophia' from you [since that's
Vanessa's first choice]. If it's a boy, we're not really sure yet," he
said of the names the couple is tossing around. "[I used to think] if I
have a son first, he's going to be named Colin. Now Colin, it's not a
good name [to Vanessa]. It's a tough thing, these names."
Earlier this summer, MTV News caught up with Lachey, who shared that he was "very excited" by the prospect of being a first-time dad. "So ready, I think, as we both are for him to come out and meet the little guy," he added. "It's about time."
Their baby news comes just months after his ex-wife, Jessica Simpson, gave birth to her first child, a daughter Maxwell, with her fiancé Eric Johnson.
