A 91-year-old Bradenton woman was killed Wednesday afternoon when the
car she was in entered the path of another vehicle in Manatee County,
the Florida Highway Patrol said.
Dorothy D. Schroeder was riding in a 2004 Mercury Grand Marquis
driven by Dennis Joseph
Schroeder, 90, at Cortez Road east of 24th
Street West when it attempted to make a left turn into the driveway of
the Home Depot on the north side of State Road 684 at 1:55 p.m.,
according to a report.
The Mercury entered the path of a 2005 Honda Pilot driven by Kathleen
Anne Kastner, 46, of Bradenton, the report said. The Honda hit the
Mercury's right side.
The Schroeders were taken to Blake Medical Center, where Dorothy died
about 4:06 p.m. Dennis remains in the hospital in serious condition.
Kastner was taken to Manatee Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.
