The former personal assistant of Waffle House CEO Joseph W. Rogers has accused Rogers of sexual harassment and assault, according to a statement filed with the Atlanta Police Department. The alleged acts took place while the assistant was working out of Rogers' home, beginning mere months after her employment began in 2003, and continuing until May 2012. According the police report, the accuser was forced to "endure the harassment and demeaning treatment by Rogers because she was a single mother and needed her job to support herself and her son." She resigned shortly after her son received a collegiate scholarship.
The police report alleges that, "as a condition of Brindle's employment, and against [the accuser's] will, Rogers willfully, repeatedly and with specific intent to harm and oppress [her], required [her] to perform sexual services." An Atlanta police spokesman says that no charges have been filed and that it is "an open investigation," after both sides filed lawsuits in September. A spokesperson for Waffle House has stated that the accuser was a housekeeper for Rogers, not an employee of Waffle House. Rogers has an estimated net worth of $400 Million.
