Police continue to search for the driver of a car that struck and killed a teenage mother on the weekend.
Faith Jackson, 18, died in hospital early Sunday morning, shortly after she was struck on 82nd Street near 141st Avenue.Later that day, police found an abandoned 2012 Dodge Charger they believe was involved — but
they've yet to track down the driver.
As police continue their investigation, friends and family remembered Jackson, who was the mother of a one-year-old boy.
"She was sweet, very sweet," said her aunt, Carrie Anne Bowman. "She'd always say 'I love you' before she went somewhere."
Bowman said the family is devastated by her death.
"Our hearts are broken," she said. "It's a part of us we'll never get back. She was a very important part of our family."
Jackson was registered at the Inner City School where she was remembered Monday by students and staff.
"We work everyday with these young people like they're our own," said principal Scott Meunier. "So when we have the misfortunate of finding one has passed, it's like losing a child."
Meunier said that a special sweatlodge ceremony has been held and counsellors are at the school.
