Rocker Jon Bon Jovi has assured fans his
teenage daughter is “healthy” and “doing great” following her accidental
drug overdose last year.
Stephanie Rose Bongiovi was found
unresponsive in her dorm room at Hamilton College in New York in
November, and she was later arrested after a small quantity of heroin
and marijuana was found during a search.
The drug charges were
eventually dropped and now the Livin’ on a Prayer hitmaker reveals the
19 year old has moved on from the incident, even though it was an
important wake-up call for his family.
During an appearance on U.S.
chat show Katie, he says, “(It was) the worst call ever… but she’s doing
great; I appreciate everybody’s thoughts and prayers. In short, that
(drug) problem is much more prevalent than any of us, well, than I knew.
And I cannot get over how many people I’ve met that have said, ‘My son,
my daughter, my son, my daughter…’ It’s (happened to) people I love,
admire (and) respect. It happens to all kinds of families all over.
“There’s a lot of pressure on kids these days, there’s access to things
that my generation didn’t have. There’s mistakes that are made. I’m just
blessed that she’s healthy and whole, and we’re getting through it.
We’ve got to.”
