Tyler Perry sued by author
Actor/moviemaker Tyler Perry is facing legal action from an author who has accused him of stealing the plot for his film Good Deeds from her book.
Terri Donald filed the lawsuit against the Madea star at Philadelphia Federal Court in Pennsylvania on Tuesday amid claims he based the romantic drama on her 2007 novel Bad Apples Can Be Good
Fruit.
Donald alleges she sent a copy of her book to Perry's production company before filming on the movie began and is seeking £140,000 in damages.
The writer also wants her book to receive a mention in the movie's opening and closing credits and for the production company to provide an account of the film's revenues.
The drama, which stars Perry as a wealthy businessman who meets a struggling single mother, grossed around £21.8 million at the US box office after its February release.
