Reds catcher banned three games for touching umpire:
Cincinnati Reds catcher Devin Mesoraco was suspended three games Wednesday for making contact with an umpire during a recent argument, MLB has announced.
According to The Cincinnati Enquirer, Mesoraco will appeal.
Mesoraco was ejected in the third inning of Saturday’s game after a heated argument with home plate umpire Chad Fairchild about a pitch
that was called a ball.
Reds manager Dusty Baker came out to separate Mesoraco and Fairchild, but the catcher appeared to hit the umpire in the chest with his index finger.
Mesorado, a rookie, is hitting .221 with five homers, 14 RBIs and a .299 on-base percentage in 46 games this season.
