South Korea found its groove at the Olympics Wednesday.
Athletes picked up three golds and a bronze, boosting the country into third place in the overall medal rankings and getting it beyond halfway to the officially-stated goal of 10 Olympic golds.
Today and tomorrow, South Korea turns again to the archery ground, when the final rounds for individual medals take place – women on Thursday, men on Friday. All six of South
Korea’s archers are still in contention, with four rounds of matches to be played to reach gold.
Amid that achievement: a black eye in the form of the disqualification of two teams in women’s doubles badminton for not trying to win.
And there was also incredible pain. South Korean weightlifter Sa Jae-hyouk, who won the gold medal four years ago in the men’s 77-kilogram category, broke his right arm during a snatch attempt. He screamed loudly and TV viewers winced. Read more
