Police have determined Rodney King's death was an accidental drowning and that he had numerous drugs such as PCP, cocaine and marijuana in his system when he died.
The San Bernardino County Coroner's Department plans to release an autopsy report on the Rialto man today.
"There's going to be no surprises. His death was ruled an accidental drowning," said Rialto police Capt. Randy DeAnda.
Police said in addition to illegal drugs, King also had a blood-alcohol level of .06 percent.
"The investigation is now completed and basically the autopsy and toxicology reinforces our
conclusions," he said.
King died in June after he was found by his fiancee at the bottom of the backyard pool at his Rialto home.
King became famous in 1991, when a witness videotaped an altercation between King and Los Angeles police. In the video, police are seen beating King brutally. The video was subsequently broadcast by news outlets around the country, inflaming racial tensions.
Four police officers were charged with assault, and when they were acquitted, one of the most violent race riots in U.S. history broke out in Los Angeles.
