COLLEGE STATION — Students and faculty members at Texas A&M University were rocked Monday by the deadly shooting in the shadow of the school's campus.
Brazos County Constable Brian Bachmann was attempting to serve an eviction notice when he was slain by a gunman, who also killed a civilian before he was shot dead by police.
College Station, population 94,000, is a quiet city with a lot of respect for law enforcement because of the university's close ties with the military. There is very little crime.
Bachmann was called a pillar who was beloved by all over his 18-year career in law enforcement.
Three vigils were being planned Monday night to pay tribute to the victims of the shooting.
