Actress Carrie Fisher has been discharged from hospital after suffering a
bipolar episode aboard a cruise ship last week (begs18Feb13). The Star
Wars veteran was performing on the Holland America Eurodam in the
Caribbean when she reportedly began slurring the words to a song she was
performing - and then refused to halt the show while her pet dog
relieved himself onstage. Audience members assumed Fisher was just
intoxicated, but now a representative for the 56 year old has
spoken out
to clarify the reports, revealing the actress was having a psychiatric
breakdown as a result of her battle with bipolar disorder. The
spokesperson tells TMZ.com, "There was a medical incident related to
Carrie Fisher's bipolar disorder. She went to the hospital briefly to
adjust her medication and is feeling much better now." The episode
comes at a bad time for Fisher, who is reportedly in negotiations to
reprise her Princess Leia character for the upcoming Star Wars franchise
update.
